Jihyun Kim

Service Design (MA)

About

I am Jihyun, a service designer and UX researcher from South Korea with a background in visual communication. I’m passionate about using human-centred design and future foresight to address systemic challenges, particularly interested in creating positive social impact through multidisciplinary collaboration and systemic thinking.

During my study at the Royal College of Art, I focused on exploring ways to support long-term transformation in public and organisational systems, as well as integrating future foresight into service design. My independent research focused on internal mobility in UK retail banking, resulting in a behavioural service concept that empowers mid-career transitions. Also, I deepened my speculative practice through a collaboration with the UK Ministry of Justice, reimagining youth rehabilitation for 2040 in response to anticipated future societal changes.

My practice is based on empathy-driven research, systems thinking, and futures-oriented design. I view it as a tool for understanding people, navigating systems, and fostering meaningful, sustained change.
