This work “Home" stems from the artist's personal struggles with cultural adaptation in London. As an introvert, prolonged social engagement in unfamiliar environments often left her with overwhelming exhaustion, leading her to seek solitude at home during most leisure hours. This isolation offered an opportunity to deeply explore her domestic states and emotions. During this period, the artist discovered that enclosed physical space paradoxically fostered psychological freedom for her—a sensation both comfortable and weightless. This realization contradicts the mainstream perception that "freedom equals mobility." She thus posed the question: How could this paradox be conveyed to viewers? Rather than depicting the physical form of a room, the work aims to replicate that womb-like sense of security—intertwined with an ever-present undercurrent of fragility and anxiety.

Qinkeer Xu is a visual artist from China specializing in illustration, printmaking, and mixed-media experimentation. Her practice consistently revolves around exploring self-identity, reconstructing fragments of memory through imagery, and transforming the observations of an introvert into visual conduits for dialogue.

Qinkeer Xu’s art persistently seeks a balance point between intimate emotion and public discourse. She excels at transforming fragile materials into psychological maps: the elasticity of rubber bands corresponds to the conflict and struggle surrounding personal identity, while the properties of PVC balloons become a medium connecting the physical and the emotional. This material language collectively points to a core proposition: how to foster a more honest dialogue with oneself and the world through creative practice.
