Grant R Davison

Ceramics & Glass (MA)

About

Grant is a South African-British ceramic artist based in London, with a background in fashion design and tailoring. His work explores transformation, tension, and the delicate balance between control and surrender. Drawing on his previous experience of working with cloth, Grant approaches porcelain like fabric, cutting it into ribbons, pressing it into folds, and draping it into sculptural forms that feel both botanical and bodily. Each piece begins as a flat sheet of porcelain that is shaped by hand, often appearing to unravel, collapse, or bloom. These forms inhabit a space between growth and decay, stuck in a suspended in-between state.
