About

Oishi Roy Dutta is a multi-disciplinary artist and art director, whose work seeks to address the complexities of human experience in a technologically evolving world. Often commenting on the physical and ecological ramifications of this increasingly digital milieu, Oishi aims to bring attention to what it means to be an organic body. Whether human, fish or plant, She explores the boundaries of the physical in a data driven landscape.

A BFA graduate from Delhi University’s College of Art (2022), specialising in advertising, graphic design and illustration, Oishi has worked in commercial spaces executing campaigns, exhibitions, and visual narratives for both commercial and cultural platforms. Oishi has experience within global art institutions, luxury brands, and grassroots initiatives such as The Nourishment Project’s opera NIRAKAR, luxury jeweller Sunita Shekhawat, and India Art Fair, apart from various other creative projects with emerging musicians and fashion houses.  She has worked across print, social and video to deliver refined, emotionally resonant visuals.

During her time at the RCA, Oishi explored the relentless surge of consumerism. Questioning the worth and value of organic existence, Oishi asks questions such as “does data die?”, “How does a fish swim Online?” Using mediums of filmmaking, drawing, and various digital tools, often relying on absurdity, humour and satire as her narrative devices, the artwork she produces is a reflection of the way people live their lives today.

She has been part of various artists presentations and shows, such as presenting her work at the Southbank Centre for “About Us! Artists Scratch Showcase”, and group shows such as Blooming Papers at Somerset House, Oishi has also worked alongside OSA Studio in partnership with London Design festival to curate Kaalchakra. A group show, discussing the cyclical nature of time.
