Claudia Pascolini
About
Claudia is an interdisciplinary visual practitioner working in the expanded field of painting. Using textiles, paint, thread, rope, paper and metal, her work explores the relationship between mind and material as they converge in the act of becoming. She approaches painting beyond medium as an external mode of thinking whose concept is determined not by the use of paint but the act of bringing something into being.
Informed by Malafouris’ Material Engagement Theory, each stain, mark, incision, stitch, fold or form activates the material to inform the next gesture. As material inscribes mind and mind inscribes material, her practice does not seek to represent but quietly unfolds through this process to explore what is spoken or held through material.
