Daniel F. Arteaga Polania

Painting (MA)

About

Arteaga’s commitment to art has led him to work across various media, including silkscreen print, video art, and painting. At the core of his practice is a deep engagement with the process of painting itself—an inquiry into the act of mark-making, layering, and material exploration as a means of expression.

He seeks to dissolve the boundaries between formal and conceptual art by bending techniques to develop a distinct visual language in which iconography, forms, and colours are both immediately recognizable and deeply rooted in life and memory. His work reflects an ongoing dialogue with language and philosophy, informing his approach and prompting critical reflection on the nature of identity and artistic purpose in a contemporary context.

Through active engagement with the medium, he translates the essential gestures of the natural world into painterly expression. The vibrations in his layered compositions evoke the shifting movement of light, embodying a sense of constant transformation.
