About

Luisa Aleixo is a Brazilian artist based in London.

Her work explores the act of care as a tangible expression of empathy.

In her vibrant acrylic paintings, she layers fragments of canvas upon canvas and hand-stitches them . This process performs a metaphor for the healing of social wounds.

In her most recent works, Luisa investigates childhood art education as an act of care.

Her creative process unfolds as a metaphor for the transformative role of art education in the emotional and expressive development of the child.

By using materials and techniques often linked to childhood art— such as cardboard, papier-mâché, gouache, and acrylic paint — she transforms the rigidity of cardboard into sculptures that evoke the fluidity of fabric.

For her, the flow of playfulness in the creative process allows emotional expression to emerge freely.
