Nahoko Komatsu O
About
Nahoko Komatsu O is a painter and contemporary artist based in Japan and the UK. She uses painting to explore emotions and thoughts on various important topics including current affairs, women’s rights, peace, human anatomy, and Japanese culture. She is starting a hospital art project from RCA Painting MA.
Through her practice, she aims to prompt viewers to question the world around them and make a positive impact on their thoughts and emotions. She derives pleasure from the intricate and mysterious journey of creating and analyzing art, and wants to share this excitement with viewers, encouraging a deep exploration of meaning and symbolism in her work.

Four projects.
Nahoko Komatsu O
1, Resonance Project (Reincarnation, connected)
The same circle design will be included in the production work. The project will continue from 2021 to 2030 (along with the SDG targets). I would like to exhibit the works connected to one wall (like street art). The meaning of the circle (rim) is reincarnation, the connection between people, connected time, and light (Niels Bohr describes light as a line and Einstein describes it as a dot)
2, Female’s collection(women’s rights)
A series of paintings created fantastically in neutral human form on the subject of women, based on news and current affairs of the time, mainly on women’s rights issues and human rights. Expresses a voice from the female side. The size of the canvas on which the subject is painted is usually fixed.
3、Kimono project(Transmission of Japanese history and culture.)
The project is based on current events or some other theme while using traditional kimono and traditional kimono patterns and passing on their qualities as Japanese people. The project is about expressing the quality and meaning of the kimono as an artist based on current events or stories.
