Rimante Mikuloviciute
About
Rimante studied painting at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius and her work has been exhibited in Sweden, Lithuania and the UK.
“My paintings draw from moments witnessed and lived, sometimes misremembered and then reimagined in paint. My work is concerned with memory as space and space as memory.
Through personal history deeply rooted in place, I am entangling memories real and imagined into layered works where the line between human presence and absence sways and expands. I aim to conjure an atmosphere that is both playful and mystical.”
Growing up in 1990s Lithuania, Rimante and her generation came of age during a period of profound transformation — a time marked by dramatic change and uncertainty as the country transitioned from Soviet occupation toward independence. These formative years, filled with both chaos and renewal, profoundly inform her artistic practice today, adding depth and texture to her exploration of memory, place, and identity.
