Tom Evans
About
Born in Barnet in 1978, Tom completed a BA at Chelsea in Painting (2000) before moving on to study and work in more commercial areas of creativity, including advertising and tech start ups. He also spent time in Madrid. Upon returning from living in Spain 2017, Tom began practising art again from his home base in rural Monmouthshire. After a focused period of drawing during the pandemic, Tom gained a place to study at The Royal Drawing School on their inaugural Online Year and then obtained funding from Arts Council Wales, which allowed him to complete the Turps Banana Correspondence Course as he made the leap back into painting prior to joining the RCA’s MA in Painting last September. He has additionally participated in several residencies and taken part in a number of shows.
Of his recent work Tom states:
“I’m currently working a lot with the theme of memory. I try to make my paintings as memorable to the viewer as the memories I’m evoking are to me when I paint them”.
