About

Hazel Huang (b.1992, Wuhan, China) is a multidisciplinary artist working with photography, performance, and installation. Her practice explores the fluidity of gender, the aesthetics of femininity, and the shifting relationship between body, image, and viewer.

Based in London and Shanghai, Hazel completed her MA in Photography at the Royal College of Art in 2025. Her work often invites participation, transforming spectators into performers. Through constructed spaces and lens-based media, she examines how self-image is staged, disrupted, and re-seen.

Rooted in a queer perspective, Hazel treats femininity as a gesture in motion rather than a fixed identity. Her recent project Happened and Happening reflects on vulnerability, authorship, and the moment when art truly begins: not in creation, but in encounter.
