Artist’s Bio:

Her works inhabit uncertain spaces where she observes her synesthesia sensation alchemising materials into the meaning-making of audiovisual mediums, as a cryptic affirmation of intimacy, of exchange of codes beneath the surface. They are drawn to connect their creativity with intangible essence blindly skeletal in colorless, formless, visible only to mind, as any demand of craft is frigid until desire, neurosis forms in it. Alongside their long-term career aspirations for writing-directing narrative films, they also write journalistic/academic film criticisms, and conduct in-depth interviews with filmmakers.

Project Statement:

I’ve grown tiresome and tedious to recursively write introductions to introductions, especially over this one-year course after so many writing drafts. In another procrastinated attempt after an “action required” email dropping into my inbox, I turned to the books for help—scattered everywhere in my apartment—as my thesis near its end: the blurbs, bios, reviews stared back from its covers, each trying to summarize something they couldn’t possibly contain. When marketing tools thrive on the bewildering attention economy, they often tell you what to expect, never what you actually get. The writing inside always deviates, thankfully, from its marketed purpose. This work does too. It resists the compulsion to summarize itself. If it is about anything, it is about refusing to be explained but staying with the author navigating through her experience, trusting the process, even the false starters, the pages written and rewritten until they accumulated enough faith to stand on their own.
