Ruochen Wang
About
Ruochen Wang is a London-based digital artist from China, graduating from the Royal College of Art (MA Digital Direction, 2024–2025). Her work explores how digital media can reconnect humans, beliefs, and nature. In 2023, scuba diving in Semporna, Malaysia, and Naples, Italy, she witnessed firsthand the beauty and fragility of marine ecosystems, as well as signs of mass coral bleaching. These experiences inspired The Coral Tree of God—an immersive ritual honoring oceanic fragility. She contributed to both the particle system and sound design aspects of the project.
Looking ahead, Wang plans to further integrate immersive media, interactive storytelling, and environmental research to create experiences that bridge the sensory and the spiritual. Her future projects aim to engage audiences not only as observers, but as participants in collective rituals that spark awareness and responsibility for the natural world. She envisions her practice expanding across exhibitions, site-specific installations, and collaborations with scientists and cultural practitioners worldwide.
