This image depicts two interior scenes designed for an absurd techno-feudalist company: a corridor leading to an unknown destination and an austere staff dormitory—embody the absurdity of a hyper-controlled corporate dystopia.

This image illustrates the design of the the exterior and the hall of the company. The exterior reinforces this religious metaphor—the company’s architecture mimics that of a church, symbolizing its totalizing, faith-like control over everything. The hall resembles a cathedral with countless apparent exits, yet it’s densely packed with employee workstations.

This project was a collaboration with Ruochen Wang and Yutong Li from the MA Digital Direction programme. I led the visual direction of the piece, defining the overall atmosphere and spatial logic. I created a significant portion of the 3D assets and designed the environment’s visual language — including composition, material choices, lighting, and color palette. My collaborator contributed assets, animation, camera movement, motion capture integration, particle effects, sound design, and final grading. The work was exhibited at Outernet London as part of a public showcase of RCA graduate projects.

Baoyu is a designer and visual storyteller with a background in industrial design and concept art.

He specializes in creating immersive digital spaces with a distinct illustrative sensibility, blending traditional hand-drawing with 3D modeling, texture-rich environments, and symbolic architecture.

His long-term practice explores how visual systems — both real and fictional — can shape belief, behavior, and perception.

His work bridges the emotional tactility of analogue media with the procedural logic of digital tools, often resulting in speculative worlds that feel both absurd and precise.

His interests include aesthetic control, ritualized systems, visual metaphors, and images that feel too organized to be questioned.
