Nakyung Kim
About
Nakyung Kim is a womenswear designer from Seoul, currently based in London. With a strong interest in textiles and materiality, her practice explores narratives of women who discover their strength within softness and vulnerability. Her work is often grounded in an investigation of femininity, translated through techniques such as knitwear and crochet.
Nakyung’s recent collection, “Anatomy of Femininity,” deconstructs the visual language of Asian femininity. Drawing on rawness and realism as metaphors for complex female identity, she incorporates anatomical references and vintage lingerie elements—disassembled and recontextualized by hand. The collection centers on hand-crocheted and hand dyed garments, emphasizing a deep respect for the emotional labor of craft and the quiet power embedded in “feminine” techniques.
