About

Lydia Lin is a knitwear designer reimagining heritage forms through the lens of constraint, craft, and quiet luxury.

With a First Class Honours degree in BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles: Knit from London College of Fashion and an MA in Textiles from the Royal College of Art, her work bridges technical precision with poetic narrative.

“I find freedom in the limitations of knit — they invite me to question, adapt, and shape textiles that feel both intricate and expressive.

My process moves between industrial and domestic flatbed machines and digital knit programming, translating historical, protective silhouettes into stories told through the language of knitwear.

Working with fully-fashioned construction, subtle finishings, and delicate fibre treatments, I push each piece beyond its initial intention — guided by attention to stitch, structure, and material. Swatches and test pieces gather in folders; small changes and mistakes become the slow, steady progress that brings each piece to life.”

Recognised with a 3rd Place Mention in the Loro Piana Knit Design Award 2025, Modern Nomads: Heritage in Motion is a female aviator-inspired body of work exploring how knitwear can move, protect, and carry heritage through transitions and displacement. Rooted in the resilience and pioneering spirit of early aviators, this collection contrasts seasonal yarns — from crisp summer linen to soft winter cashmere and merino — and stitch weights — from airy lace to sculptural textures — offering a seasonless refuge for today’s modern nomads.

This collection features yarns provided by Loro Piana through the Knit Design Award 2025.
